Is Twilight frenzy going on in your neck of the woods?! While I did read the first two books and started the third (until Haley came and said she needed to read it first), I have just not really gotten into the movie madness so much. I think some of that has to do with the fact that I didn't love who they chose as the characters. You know how it is when you read a book and you have someone in mind for a particular character? Well, at one point, before the movie was actually cast, I remember seeing the choices that Stephenie Meyer would have picked to portray her characters and I liked her choices better. Clearly, I am in the minority, I know ... since the Twilight Saga has catapulted new(er) actors into SUPER STARS! I couldn't even say weather I am team Edward or team Jacob - I am team neutral ... although I am all for true love so if Edward is Bella's true love, then that is who she should be with - absolutely.
And the fact that in this one they get married and have a baby ... awesome. (I did see previews.) So there is a wedding - and there is wedding attire. And one day last week I went to the movies and some of that wedding attire was on display at the theater. What? I couldn't believe it. How cool is that? Shoes and accessories too ... I got a little excited!
When I inquired as to why our theater was lucky enough to have this display, I was told that Utah is number one in the nation for ticket sales for the Twilight movies. (Why does that not surprise me?) I am sure that part of that reason is because Stephenie Meyer is somewhat of a local girl - in that she graduated from BYU with her bachelors in English. (She and I have that in common ... well, the difference is that although I attended BYU and wanted to graduate in English, she actually did. Sigh.)
I am pretty sure the other reason is because 5 of the world's BIGGEST Twilight fans live here. They are sisters, they are my nieces, and they just got back from the Hollywood premiere of "Breaking Dawn." And there were definitely celebrity sightings, and you know how much I LOVE celebrity sightings .....
(... stay tuned.)
oh peeps i LOVE this. how have we not gone up there and seen this yet?!?! that is a MUST! (thanks for the shout-out!)
ReplyDeleteHave fun with all of that...and have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool display!!
ReplyDeleteI never read the books (I may be the only person out there that hasn't) I would love to read them someday. I have seen all the movies and plan to see the new one. I wasn't impressed with the first one, but they have been getting a bit better.
I'm with paige...HOW have we not been up to see this display yet? those dresses are absolutely stunning! we gotta go.
ReplyDeletei can't wait for you to see the rest of our pic's...they are unreal! what a trip!
I am the same way with the characters. I also only read the first two books as well....and I can't pick up anymore. Not my thing. The wedding display is so great though!
ReplyDeleteLove this display...my daughter is off to see the movie tonight...I have never read the books but she is one huge FAN...happy weekend my friend. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI am just impressed you have time to read....ahhhhh once upon a time :) Pretty dresses though!!! How cool for the cast members to have such changed lives!
ReplyDeleteWatched the sing-off tonight & thought of you the whole time! Sad to see MaKay go! He was amazing!
First...I must say that your nieces are adorable!!! And it's so fun that they came here for the premiere!
ReplyDeleteI did go and see the movie tonight...and I am used to the characters now...but, felt the same way as you at first. I love the choice for Alice though...adorable! The funniest part is when Jacob rips his shirt off at the very beginning of the movie and all of the girls in the theater actually screamed...laughed for a second...and then proceeded to scream again...HILARIOUS! He is pretty cute...but...really...screaming in a movie? You don't hear of that very often! My other gripe is that it seems they are really slow at getting these movies out...I don't know if I even remember much about book four now...might have to re-read a little!
And tell your girls THE HUNGER GAMES will be in theaters in March 2012...and it all starts again! :)
